The collection is a rather disorganized compendium of publications and what appear to be diary entries. Full of racist and antisemitic rant, it nonetheless provides an interesting picture of what their respective authors thought about the war, slaves and other matters and it shows just what was published in local papers during the civil war. Interesting if accompanied by reading a proper account of the war (for which I wholeheartedly recommend reading S. Foote)Product details

Incidents of the War Humorous Pathetic and Descriptive Alf Burnett 9781374986046 Books Reviews
Looks good free E Book.
Interesting contemporaneous look at the Civil War
Good book, although can be a bit boring at times. Overall though a good read, with insights behind every day life.
Fun read.
I thoroughly enjoyed the author's sense of humor, and I laughed out loud many times while reading this book. The stories are timeless, and anyone who enjoys Civil war history will enjoy this book too. Yes, the N word is used throughout, but the book is merely using the language of that era. If that bothers you, skip the book and read something else.
Somewhat entertaining, not necessarily an accurate account of the civil war.
the language is dated so that makes this hard to follow. it is suppose to be the authors experience while reporting on the civil war. I found it hard to figure out what the author was trying to say because of the dated language. maybe someone who is a civil war buff would get more out of this, but if your not, then don't bother.
