I loved the premise of this book but it fell a bit short for me. I couldn't get myself to like Ally because all I could see her as was whiny, manipulative, and downright mean. I had a hard time seeing what her former boyfriend saw in her because if she treated him anything like how she treated Arthur the genie, it's no wonder he bolted. The writing could use some tightening up (just too many details about shoes and clothes and food that I started skimming through her extravagant, selfish shopping trips). As far as romantic comedy goes, the laughter wasn't really there, again because of Ally's meanness. I prefer characters who have at least a bit of compassion, ability to accept responsibility for their actions, and don't immediately yell or cry or scream at everyone they come in contact with. Maybe others enjoyed but not my cup of tea.Tags : I Wish for You: A Happily Ever After Romantic Comedy - Kindle edition by Camilla Isley. I Wish for You A Happily Ever After Romantic Comedy edition by Camilla Isley Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
this book was so full of surpises and funny-it looks into a relationship that went wrong and she is trying to find out what went wrong and how to let go-it is one of those books you will not put down or stop listen to till the end -it will be one i will listen to over and over-cause i love good stories
Really entertaining and in some spots hysterically funny! The premise of the story is kinda off the wall, but it is handled beautifully. The characters and the storyline are very well fleshed out and you really root for them to get together and I love the happy ever after. I would recommend this book to any reader who likes quirky heroines and very sexy and strong heroes.
Short review. Ally is hard to character to like a first especially how she treats Arthur who is very sweet and caring. The story is Ally's journey of letting go and moving on from old open wounds of a past relationship and opening herself up to new things including a new relationship. You'll fall for Arthur instantly and want to know more of his back story with each turn of the page.
If the writer thinks that there is any redeeming quality to her character Ally Johnson, she is very wrong. Ally is a sarcastic, vindictive whiney childish witch. I hope that the majority of real life young women would not do, nor speak in the way this character is portrayed. Her character of Arthur as a man caught in circumstances that he was not able to change, was a good counter balance to Ally.
This book was a good read. It was hard not to like the main characters even when they were obviously being annoying. I laughed so much at some of the shenanigans of the genie, Arthur, and Ally. So glad it was a happy ending. The end felt a bit rushed though, which was a bit upsetting since I was rooting for Arthur through most of the book. I enjoyed this book so much I actually ended up reading it in one day.
This is a modern day fairy tale. Ally’s boyfriend breaks up with her after three years just when she thinks he wants her to move in with him. Her one desire is to be reunited, especially after he starts dating her coworker and a marriage is planned. Some mild language. Rated PG
Do you believe in magic? Ally Johnson has been in love with her ex for two years. She still pines for him even after seeing him with someone she works with. She goes with her mother to a flea market and magically ends up with this coffer. Inside is a genie (Prince Arthur) who can grant Ally five wishes. She uses some of her wishes to try to get James back. She almost succeeds on James' wedding day when he says her name at the altar and comes back to her. But there is no going back. James and Ally part ways. Ally ' best friend tells her she is in love with Arthur. She doesn't believe it but finally admits it. She tells Arthur hut he says it can't be because of the curse. Ally kisses him and begins to turn to ice but as the kiss continues she warms back to life. The curse is broken,
