“Holiday Rush”

A Black Friday shopping-trip-gone-wrong loses Lindy her job, her guy, and her dignity. Then it gets worse—she has no choice but to take a job she loathes. But there’s one bonus in the deal a seriously hot boss who might help her feel that holiday rush again.

12,000 words or 48 typical book pages.

This is one of the stories from the Holiday Flirts! 5 Romantic Short Stories collection. The five stories are linked by a loose thread, that ties up in a fab happy ending, bringing together characters from all the stories. Each story is 8,000-12,000 words each.

In one day, Lindy gets locked in a store, loses her could-have-been boyfriend, gets fired, and has to take a job at a place she detests. Seems like Santa skipped over Lindy this year... or has he?

I've "purchased" several of Lisa Scott's "Flirts" when they were available as freebies and they're always a really good way to spend 45 minutes - and this story is no exception. As with the other Flirts, there's enough time to actually build a little romance between the hero and heroine - and I really think that's what sets these stories apart from other short stories out there. The hero and heroine are given some time to spend together, share some experiences together, and build a little foundation for a relationship. There's also a bit of time for character development which helps to further enrich the story.

In this story, I initially found Lindy to be a little shallow and `looking her nose down' at a certain thing in the story. I didn't know if I'd like her or not, but, as the story rounds out, you find that everything is not what it seems. In the end, the story was fun, humorous, sweet, and a little emotional. This is a great way to spend a few spare minutes during the holiday season.

Holiday Rush from Holiday Flirts! 5 Romantic Short Stories Book 3 edition by Lisa Scott Romance eBooks Reviews

Sometimes the best things for us are in hiding. That's what this story shows. She lost her job but got another (wish the turn around was that quick in real life )). She found her true calling and what she really enjoyed doing.

I liked the book and enjoyed reading it. I had some down time and completed the whole thing. I would read other shorts by the author and maybe a long one. It was funny because I could see how something like that happening.
I couldn't finish this, even though it is a short story. At 65% through, I just couldn't make myself continue any longer. That's the only reason I'm rating it a 3, otherwise I would give it a 2. (Maybe it got better?) This story was unrealistic and it just couldn't hold my interest. I downloaded this for free, thank goodness!

Unlike other reviewers comments, I felt it was clear when I downloaded this that it was just one story from a collection of 5 short stories. I wouldn't recommend this author or read this author again.
I did enjoy this short story though I found parts of it, particularly the ending, pretty far-fetched. However, I was very disappointed to find that it contained only one of the book's five stories. Looking back, I can see that this was clearly explained but because I chose it from the list of 100 Top Free Books, I naturally assumed it would be a book, not a sample.

At any rate, I did enjoy the story. It was fun and light-hearted, just right as Christmas fluff. But will I go on to purchase the remaining 4 stories? Nope, afraid not.
Since I read this author's first Flirts! book, I figured I'd go for the free Christmas story. ) There were a few places that felt unrealistic insofar as the retail details went, as I worked in department stores for 15 years and have seen it all, believe me. But the story's plot was interesting and fun enough for me to let go of my biases and simply enjoy the story. It was definitely an emotional read, as well as a fun one. I am a big fan of this author. She has a real knack for breathing life into her characters. I can't wait to read her Fairy Tale Flirts! when it comes out.
I couldn't put this book down! I had to put my day 'on hold' so that I could finish the book. I kept wanting more!

The story starts with Lindy having a bad day all around. Everything that could go wrong, does just that. But things start to turn around for her as she starts a new job with a boss she can't get off her mind. Of course, there's no dating employees.... what's Lindy to do?

Cute story. I loved how Ms. Scott was able to put all the events together to make this wonderful story. This is definitely worth the read!
Holiday Rush is a one of the five short stories that were included in Lisa Scott's Holiday Flirts! 5 Romantic Short Stories. Lindy, the main character, works at an expensive clothing store, and has an obsession with expensive clothes also even though her budget can't really afford it. On her way to a blind date, she stops at a discount store to buy some tights and gets locked in the dressing room. Although through Lindy's eyes it seems like her life is over after losing her job and dignity, things end up working out in her favor BIG TIME. I enjoyed this story, in the end, but it started off very slow. I also wished it could've been a little bit longer so I'd know more to the story, but I guess the point of a short story is that you're supposed to infer what wasn't said after the book is over.
I enjoyed this short story more than I thought I would. It had a sweet story line and once the heroine got past her initial humiliation, some tender moments happened between the hero and heroine. I found the humor and romantic tension quite entertaining. I loved the theme about blessing others and giving to people in need and how it is more rewarding than receiving gifts. The tender memories from the heroine's Christmas past added to the story's charm.

The author created a dreamy hero that any woman would enjoy getting to know better once they got past his initial smugness. The heroine was a real hoot. Her affinity for expensive clothes made her character even funnier, especially given the fact that she met the hero at a discount store. As someone who refuses to go shopping on Black Fridays, this story just firmed up in my mind the reason I avoid stores on that day. Overall the dialog was witty and the characters were likable. It's hard to write a short story that is satisfying, but this one delivers.
