All Cookie James, FBI agent and Innkeeper extraordinaire, wants is a romantic date with her hot handy man… but what she gets is a corpse presented with a big red bow.
When she and Dylan discover a boat with a dead body, not only is her picnic ruined, but a woman from Dylan’s past returns to the island. The famous rock star appears to want a comeback tour with her former bodyguard. But Cookie doesn’t have time to worry about that, because her oh-so-sexy ex-FBI partner has arrived, too. And he’s ready to make a little music of his own.
With an entangled love life, too much manscaping, and a songbird in trouble, it’s once again Cookie’s job to wrap up another murder.

Ditto! This one like the others are a good read as far as the crime solving mystery thing goes. BUT the romance line with the triangle of Cookie, Hunter and Dylan really should have been resolved in the 2nd book anyway. If you're trying to duplicate Janet Evanoviches' Stephanie Plum you've missed the mark here!Product details

Life in the Dead Lane Secret Seal Isle Mysteries Book 2 edition by Lucy Quinn Romance eBooks Reviews
Enjoying Book Two so far but had to stop reading to post this quick question was FBI Agent Hunter O'Neil African American in Book One???
I just love this series. Fun, exciting, romantic and humorous. The characters are likeable and the plot always has a twist or two.
The author puts together a fine story, filled with twists and turns that keep you going. A nice book with murder, mayhem and sexual tension.
This is a fun story. Cookie is trying to settle into life as an innkeeper, but between her mother's antics and the way crimes keep finding her, the quiet life is elusive. And is she ever going to have a whole date with Dylan?
The story was a good read, definitely kept me entertained. Cookie is a complex character that has a lot of story to explore, her mother is something else and she has two men she goes back and forth on. The romance part is very awkward and it’s hard to get a read on what one is really doing or thinking but I expect to get more clarity in the next books.
This is my second book by this author and I loved it as much as the first. The characters and the story line was great and a good mystery until the end. The characters are a unique blend. I love the mother in this book. She makes the story line very interesting without taking over the lead. This is a must read for all mystery lovers!!
Read the first book as part of a collection. Although it was pretty simplistic, the plot was decent enough to cause me to want to continue the series with this one. Here, again, the plot is decent, but the bumbling descriptions of FBI agents was just wrong & the characters were too explicit in their behaviors. Touting the benefits of smoking dope and eating hash brownies may be what's done in today's hip crowd, but it promotes their use. There is no humor here. This is not an adult book, certainly not a YA, so two stars at best, and that's being generous. I won't purchase another.
Ditto! This one like the others are a good read as far as the crime solving mystery thing goes. BUT the romance line with the triangle of Cookie, Hunter and Dylan really should have been resolved in the 2nd book anyway.
