More the memoir of a regiment than an individual, this book is by no means a regimental history. Not having sufficient detail for the serious historian, it also is missing any I details of human interest. This person was awarded that medal, but no description of the action that merited it. Hitting that grey medium between tedium and apathy, it takes a bit of imagination to enjoy this book.This being the Kindle edition, it's entirely lacking the maps, diagrams and photos...bummer! I resorted to making sketches based on his descriptions.
Being English, the author says nothing about his own feelings or emotions. Written almost entirely in the third person, I'm not even sure what positions or rank the author held.

The book is informative, yet it was short. It gives a great overview of the actions which the Regiment was involved in during the war.
Do you have a microscope? This print is from a publisher who wants to make $$ off of the fewest pages produced. The print is so small as to be unconscionable. Even if you have great eye sight, expect eye strain!
