When I started reading this book I was absorbed into the storyline right away. A good attention grabbing beginning. Then slowly things began to worsen and fall apart.Whatever made anyone think Christy would be a strong chieftan/laird for her clan? The woman was immature, selfish, stubborn and basically stupid.
And her greatest flaw was that she was a liar. I could see and understand her first set of lies when she wanted to get with child by her husband. But, those lies led to many others...the worst being the lie about their child. omg...to me that was unforgiveable. I am a believer that Karma can be a bitch and will eventually turn around and bite you in the ass.
Sinjun was a drunken womanizer. Did not use the head atop his shoulders for most of his thinking & actions. He tended to prefer using his other head.
The book had several typos/wrong word useage and these mistakes were repeated throughout the book. A few that I remember-- 'mat' instead of that-- 'mere' instead of there-- 'mink' instead of think and 'Mall' instead of Niall.
I feel this could have been such a good story if the h/H had been more mature and had talked to one another instead of suffering the reader through one misunderstanding after another.
By the end of the book I pretty much despised both Christy and Sinjun. Both of them were so shallow and selfish.
Hope Karma finds the heroine and takes a bite out of her. lol

Loved the author and book.
Absolutely love this author.
I have not read a book of hers that I haven't loved.
From the very beginning I was drawn in.
Two very young kids married and years later finally meet. Sinjun doesn't know who Christy is but is taken with her the minute he see's her. She knows who he is, a rake, and her husband.
This book went on forever.I liked the beginning and then when she consummated the marriage that was really cute. It just went down hill for me. Way to much drama with the clans and Sins family was annoying. It just fell flat. I like Mason so will continue to read her books just this one was not good.
I really like this author but this book was not as good as her other books I have read. It started out well and the plot was interesting. There were just too many misunderstandings and Sinjun returned to his debauched ways every time there was a problem. I also found it difficult to like his siblings most of the time. The of portrayal of the Scottish Highlands and their people was well done.
Okay, I'll be nice and give this two stars instead of the one that it probably deserves. I had several problems with this book, the first being St.John's title. How can an earl's second son be a marquess? That title is above earl. Then there was Christy who wanted everyone to know that she was St.John's countess. That is the title of an earl's wife. (Lady Alice, however, got the name of a marquess' wife correct.) Then there was the story itself. I got sooo tired of Christy running to London all the time. She was a laird? When was she there to lead her people? Whenever there was a problem, she literally went south. She was so concerned with keeping everything completely peaceful, that she let Calum run amok. A good laird would have done whatever they had to to put him in his place. The whole Lord Sin thing where St.John turned into a raging drunk, licentious predator whenever he felt that he had been wronged was really immature. She kept lying, he kept drinking and cheating. No one talked, or trusted the other. Bah, it got really old. There were also a ton of typos, did no one proofread this before it was published?
I liked the book but the heroine was another matter. She lies to her husband to protect him and then runs to London to escape the Cameron man and hides out instead of telling her husband the truth about his child then when he finds her she leaves him again to run back to her people which I found funny because the woman could not protect her husband and herself for that matter or she would not have run to begin with. Then she allows someone to fetch her husband for help in the end. sorry but her antics were enough to make me scream..lol
While a decent enough book, there is one very glaring mistake that I can't overlook. The British peerage system goes king/queen, prince/princess, duke/duchess, marquis/marchioness, earl/countess, ect. Therefore, the older brother would have had the Marquis title, not the younger one.
